Abstract

Agriculture has several production methods, from the most rudimentary to
the most sophisticated. Inequality is noticeable in the municipality studied,
as it has farmers with structures equipped with up-to-date technologies and
machinery, as well as family farmers on small farms and almost no technology
whatsoever to assist them. The present study aimed to analyze the extent
to which rural producers use third party resources to finance agricultural
activities. The research was characterized as exploratory, qualitative and
quantitative. A survey was carried out, with the population comprising 1934
rural properties in the municipality of Marechal Cândido Rondon- Paraná - Brazil. The sample consists of 86 properties, chosen for accessibility. The data
were collected through questionnaires composed of 35 questions, applied to
rural producers in the municipality and data obtained by two credit unions
in the municipality, informing the number of rural credit contracts released
in the last 5 years. It was found that 85% of rural producers have already
used financial resources from third parties to finance their activities, 61% of
respondents are family farmers who work on small properties. There was an
increase in the contracting of rural credit, showing that it is an alternative to
make investments, leverage their income and fund activities.
